ALBUM OF THE WEEK: Solange 'True EP'

This week's Album Of The Week comes from Beyonce's little sister Solange. Okay, so we're cheating a little bit in that our "album" of the week is actually an EP. However, in our defence it is a 7-track EP, which is almost an album.  And it's bloody good. Yes, we were surprised to. These 7-tracks shit all over anything her big sister has released lately, anyway.


The standout cut is Some Things Never Seem To Fucking Work, an upbeat, Motown-esque track that sounds a bit like a cross between Will Powers' eighties hit Kissing With Confidence with any eighties dance anthem by Madonna or Janet Jackson. Lead single Losing You is one of the most interesting urban tracks of the year (along with a great video) that strays into a more mainstream take on the current indie-urban sound that artists like The Weeknd are pioneering. The EP acts as a precursor to Solange's third studio album which is coming your way next year.
